Portete beach
(2.5Km of beach, north of Ecuador)
Portete is a small island south of Mompiche. In order to reach it, its necessary to take a boat ($0.5, 2 min) from mainland. There is a small village dedicated to fishing and tourism. There are hotels and restaurants on the island.
On the beach they rent beach umbrella $2, massages $10, food and drink served to the beach umbrella.
The island has a nice 2.5Km beach, little waves, and surrounded by mangroves and palm trees. It is an excellent destination to relax and enjoy the sea. In addition, there you can see sea birds such as blue footed boobies, frigates and sea turtles in season.
There is necessary to cross by boat from mainland to the island ($ 0.5, 2 min)
BY BUS:
There is no direct connection to any city by bus. The only way to access by public transport is through Esmeraldas to Mompiche ($ 4.75, 3 hours) and then take a tuck tuck (5 min, $ 1).
BY BOAT:
From Mompiche you can rent a speedboat ($ 10, 15 min)
